Dear St. Luke’s Friends,
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church is holding our annual St. Luke’s Day celebration this coming Sunday, October 20, starting at 1 p. m., and we would love to have you join.

We moved our Sunday service to that time to enable us to have supply priests at least twice a month for Eucharist . After the service, we will have an expanded coffee hour starting at 2:30 with tables set up in the church so we can sit and visit and reminisce.

All of us will do some cooking.
Feel free to come to the service, the light meal, or preferably both! If you have any pictures or mementos from past St. Luke’s events you might like to show off, please bring them with you.

You may have already heard that, with the help of the Diocese of Central PA, we sold the buildings to Chris Cook but we are leasing back the sanctuary as well as space for our monthly Food Pantry which now distributes food to over 100 families each month. Chris already has a renter running a Head Start program using the “choir room” and the upstairs classrooms Monday through Friday . Those areas now have air conditioning, as will the auditorium by next summer.

The auditorium has been repainted and is available for rentals. This arrangement is working well for both us and our community minded landlord.

As a small but mighty congregation , we are working hard to spread the love of God and also partner with our neighboring Episcopal churches . Currently, we are collaborating with Holy Trinity, Hollidaysburg , on activities funded by a Shaped by Faith
grant , such as some wonderful programming, reaching out to the community and exploring our faith . We also held a great party for Mardi Gras and sponsored the first Blair County Juneteenth Jubilee in 2024.

We are now in year 2 of our three year collaboration and full of vim, vigor, and determination , eager to start working even more with Trinity Tyrone; St . John’s Huntingdon; and St. James Bedford , to ensure an ongoing Episcopal presence in this area. We would love to share with you what we’ve been up to and what s ahead.

You are always welcome at St. Luke’s, of course, but, if you can join us on the 20th i t would be great if you could RSVP to Debbie Burgan at 814 502 0906, so we can plan for the food for this
event.

Looking forward to seeing you soon,
The Vestry of St. Luke's
