Ordination

"Ordination is the rite in which God gives authority and the grace of the Holy Spirit to those being made bishops, priests, and deacons, through prayer and the laying on of hands by bishops. --Book of Common Prayer, pp. 860-861

The local church community has always had a role in helping individual discern whether they are called to Holy Orders (the priesthood or the diaconate). If you are interested in discerning a call to Holy Orders, please contact the church office at 814-942-1372 to schedule a meeting.

Other Vocations

Vocations in the Church and world are not limited to bishops, priests, and deacons. Some people feel called to explore particular church ministries such as teaching Sunday School or offering occasional homilies. Additionally, some people may feel called to a monastic order or to belong to a third order of a religious order. You may even feel the need to discern where God is working in your daily life (whether you are a teacher, plumber, or even retired!) Father Josh is interested in helping all people discern their spiritual gifts. If you would like to meet with St. Luke's Lay Pastor, Kevin W. Barron, to discuss where God is working in your life, please contact him through the Church office. Everybody has a vocation in God's Kingdom.
